TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 83

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 83 debuted tonight on YouTube. Both matches were pre-taped at CCW’s Bash at the Beach 14 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on March 5, 2022. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
SOUTH AMERICAN ALLIANCE (c) vs. NEW AGE POWER TRIP
CCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Ariel Levy with the tornado DDT

The New Age Power Trip, Andy Brown and Jake Sterling, did everything they could in the early going to disrupt the offense of the CCW tag team champions, The South American Alliance. Early on, with Jake Sterling in one corner, Andy Brown tried to attack Ariel Levy from the apron, but missed. The failed attack gave Sterling the opportunity to regroup and reverse a tornado DDT from Levy into a suplex.

From there, the challengers were in control. After some particularly hard chops to Ariel Levy, Andy Brown taunted Vinicious. Vinicious took the bait and tried to enter the ring, distracting the referee long enough for The New Age Power Trip to double team Levy in the corner. When we returned from commercial break, the challengers were still in control until Ariel Levy mustered up the strength to hit a tornado DDT and make the hot tag to Vinicious.

Vinicious seemed invicible at first, but Andy Brown wisely took out Ariel Levy in the corner, and called in Jake Sterling for a spectacular spinebuster/neck breaker combo move to the big man. Somehow, Vinicious kicked out of the pin attempt, broke through a double clothesline from the challengers and hit a double cross body on both Brown and Sterling. As Vinicious tagged in Levy, he noticed Blake Bowman and Jack Talos entering the arena. To Levy’s dismay, Vinicious went out to confront Bowman and left his partner to take the punishment alone.

Brown signaled for the end and Jake Sterling climbed to the top rope. However, Levy managed a go-behind on Brown and pushed him into the turnbuckles, knocking Sterling from his perch. From there, Levy rolled up the stunned Brown for the win. After the successful title defense, the champs had a heated discussion in the ring that had to be smoothed over by Bill Alfonso.

WINNERS: THE SOUTH AMERICAN ALLIANCE

MATCH #2
ALAN S2S MARTINEZ (c) vs. CHRIS FARROW
CCW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Innovative offense from the exciting Chris Farrow

We picked up this much anticipated Cruiserweight Championship rematch in progress coming out of commercial. After an attempted dirty pinfall by the champ, Martinez charged at Farrow who pulled the ropes down and sent the champion to the floor. From the apron, Farrow hit an amazing Asai Moonsault. Farrow rolled Martinez back in the ring, took to the top rope and connected with a Missle Dropkick.

In the center of the ring, the pair exchanged chops and slaps until Martinez reversed Farrow in something that ended up looking like a package powerbomb. Martinez worked Farrow into a leg lock that converted into a step over toe hold with a chin lock. When Farrow’s chin slipped out, Martinez pulled his hair instead. Farrow finally reached the ropes, but found himself up in a torture rack. Farrow escaped, hit a sit-out gourdbuster, then a springboard Metora which surprisingly resulted in just a two-count.

The challenger lifted Martinez up onto the top turnbuckle and started to climb to the top rope, but a Martinez headbutt knocked Farrow off. Undaunted, Farrow hit an ensiguri to Martinez, then climbed to the top rope from the apron instead. This time, Farrow landed a Super Victory Roll from the top rope, but still could not secure the pinfall. Looking for crowd support, Farrow climbed to the top rope once again. This time, Farrow took too long setting up the 450 splash. Martinez moved out of the way, picked Farrow up, and connected with the GTS.

WINNER: ALLAN S2S MARTINEZ
