TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 89

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 89 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW Game On from the Redcon1 Gym in Nashville, Tennessee on April 30, 2022. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
BRIAN CAGE vs. AR FOX

Brian Cage waited over a year for his shot at AR Fox and he did not waste any time. As the bell rang, Cage picked up Fox, drove him into the turnbuckles, and crushed him with a barrage of shoulder blocks. AR Fox countered an Irish Whip by hopping over onto the apron, using his legs to trip Cage from under the bottom rope, then sprung in with a basement dropkick.

When Cage rolled out of the ring, Fox hit an unbelievable somersault plancha into a hurricanrana. Cage tried to throw Fox back in, but Fox did a 180º on the apron, kicked cage in the face, then amazingly hopped up to the top turnbuckle for a moonsault which brought the crowd to its feet.

Back inside the ring, Fox took Cage’s arm in one hand and climbed to the top rope. Following an acrobatic sequence of tightrope moves, and still holding Cage’s arm, Fox converted a cazadora into a bulldog. As Fox attempted to springboard from the apron again, Cage caught him, stood on the second rope and suplexed Fox into the ring from the apron.

AR Fox with a short stunner and a cutter to Brian Cage

AR Fox would look for a breather on the outside, but Cage followed him out. Cage hit several hard chops and dropped Fox neck first on the guardrail. Cage grabbed a chair, set Fox down, and hit multiple chops and kicks. In celebration, Cage pretended to hit a home run and do a victory lap around the ring. As he did, Fox jumped out of the chair, slid into the ring, and leapt over the ropes on the other side as Cage came around.

After the commercial break, Fox would try two clotheslines that had no effect on Cage. So, Fox tried a neck breaker, stunner, flying elbow, and a roll through cutter. Still, Fox could not secure the victory. Fox looked to put Cage in a fireman’s carry, but Cage escaped, hit a pumphandle driver, and called for the end. Cage lifted Fox into a Gory Special, but Fox escaped and climbed to the top rope. Cage arose and pushed Fox off the top, but Fox flipped, landed on his feet, and nailed Cage with a short stunner followed by a cutter from the second rope.

Powerbomb, bucklebomb, and F5 by Brian Cage

AR Fox could still only manage a two-count after all that offense, but he climbed back up to the top rope to do more damage. Cage got up and tried to push him off the top, but lost his balance and fell outside the ring. Fox hit a sliding dropkick that sent Cage over the guardrail into the seats. From there, Fox jumped back up to the top rope and did a somersault onto Cage in the crowd.

Inside the ring, Fox looked for a pop-up, but Cage caught him in mid-air, slammed him to the mat with a power bomb, threw him into the corner for a buckle bomb, and smashed him with a modified F5. Incredibly, Cage could manage just a two-count. Frustrated, Cage climbed to the top rope with Fox for what looked like a Super F5, but Fox escaped and drove Cage into the mat with a Spanish Fly and nearly took home the victory with a 450º splash. But, this was Cage’s night. Brian tried a powerbomb, but Fox escaped. Instead Cage lifted Fox into a suplex converted into a Michinoku driver for the hard fought victory.

WINNER: BRIAN CAGE
