TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 91

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 91 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW St. Lucie Showdown II from the MidFlorida Events Center in St. Lucie, Florida on April 22, 2022. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
GANGREL vs. JACOB FATU
NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH

Fatu’s headbutts split Gangrel wide open

The moment Jacob Fatu came through the curtain, Gangrel attacked and the pair brawled on the outside for several minutes. After some back and forth, Gangrel threw Fatu into the ring and grabbed a chair. Fatu attempted a tope suicida, but Gangrel threw the steel chair at Fatu’s face. Gangrel called for the Impailer DDT, but Fatu slipped out, rolled out of the ring, and threw a chair at Gangrel’s head.

After commercial, Fatu and Gangrel left the ringside area and brawled around the back of the room. Gangrel pummeled Fatu with trash cans, rammed his head into a table, and used a chair to choke Fatu. Jacob charged, but Gangrel used a back body drop to send Fatu crashing through another table. As Gangrel threw the broken table on top of Fatu, the fans began chanting, “We want blood! We want blood!”

The pair made their way back to ringside and Fatu began throwing chairs into the ring. Jacob slammed Gangrel’s head into the ring steps three times, then hit a series of headbutts that split Gangrel’s forehead. Fatu threw the bloody Gangrel onto the apron and hit a leg drop, then turned to the crowd and exclaimed, “I’m the goddamn man around here!”

Gangrel with a Canadian Destroyer and Impailer to put away Jacob Fatu

A confident Fatu made his way back into the ring and set up a steel chair between the top two turnbuckles in one corner. Fatu hit two charging splashes and a backspring moonsault, but could only manage a two count. Fatu hit Gangrel in the stomach with the chair, laid the chair across Gangrel’s body, and hit another backspring moonsault. Amazlingly, Gangrel kicked out a second time.

The return from commercial found Gangrel reversing Fatu into a near fall, but the count stopped as Fatu’s foot was on the ropes. On his feet, Fatu got caught on a kick attempt, but didn’t miss on the subsequent super kick which sent Gangrel crashing into the corner. Fatu put one chair across Gangrel’s chest and grabbed a second one. Jacob climbed to the top turnbuckle in the opposite corner and nailed Gangrel with a coast to coast dropkick with the chairs. Gangrel still would not stay down.

Fatu set up another chair in the center, but Gangrel slammed Fatu’s head into the chair and called for the Impailer DDT. Fatu reversed into a Samoan drop. However, he missed on the triple-jump moonsault. At that moment, Brian Brock ran in and attacked Gangrel. Brock tried to hit Gangrel with a trash can, but hit Fatu instead. Gangrel threw Brock out of the ring, hit a Canadian Destroyer followed by the Impailer DDT, and got the win.

After the bell sounded, Brock attacked Gangrel again. This time, Fatu chased Brock off. With Brock and Lew Spectre looking on from the ramp, Gangrel and Fatu went face to face in the center of the ring. First they pushed each other and started brawling, but eventually showed mutual respect for one another and hugged.

WINNER: GANGREL
