TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 97

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 97 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches wer pre-taped at Bash at the Brew 17 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on June 4, 2022. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
JOSH WOODS vs. ALEX CHAMBERLAIN

Josh Woods reverses Alex Chamberlain’s leg drop into an ankle lock

Josh Woods and Alex Chamberlain were already in the ring as the episode started, but Chamberlain would not stay long. Woods tripped Chamberlain coming off the ropes and Alex rolled out of the ring for a breather. When he returned, Chamberlain whipped Woods into the ropes and attempted a leap frog, but Woods reversed it into an ankle lock. Again, Chamberlain scurried away to the floor to regain his composure.

Chamberlain would dominate the middle stages of this match once it returned to the ring, at times, taunting Woods as he tries to crawl to safety. Chamberlain stretched Woods with a surfboard, as Woods called for the fans to help him rally. Chamberlain body slammed Woods and went for a leg drop, but again, Woods reversed into an ankle lock.

Woods would soon climb to the top rope, but Chamberlain would stall by pushing the referee into the ropes to give him time to climb up with Woods. Chamberlain superplexed Woods down to the mat, but could only manage a two count.

As the match wound down, Chamberlain picked up Woods in a fireman’s carry, Woods escaped. Woods picked up Chamberlain in a fireman’s carry, Chamberlain escaped. On the mat, the competitors alternated headlock takeovers and leg scissor escapes back and forth, until, suddenly, Chamberlain left his shoulders on the mat three seconds too long and the match was over. A stunned Chamberlain pleaded with the referee, but nothing could be done.

WINNER: JOSH WOODS

MATCH #2
T.C. READ vs. ARIEL LEVY vs. AGONY vs. JACKAL STEVENS
CCW CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH

Jack Talos’ chokeslam allows Ariel Levy to become #1 contender

Agony went to work immediately, throwing Ariel Levy out of the ring. He followed that up with splashes to both T.C. Read and Jackal Steven in opposite corners until Read got a boot up, Stevens hit a drop kick and Agony powdered. Stevens and Agony turned their attention to one another, until Levy tripped Read and pulled him out of the ring.

Later, Jackal Stevens would pull the ropes down as Agony charged, then hit a suicide dive to all three of his opponents on the floor. Stevens attempted to capitalize on Levy back in the ring, but Ariel would use an eye gouge, a German Suplex, and meteora knees in the corner to get a near fall. T.C. Read managed to break up the pin attempt.

Levy, Stevens and Read would all make their way to the top rope and, as Read and Stevens looked to superplex Levy, Agony returned to the ring and powerbombed them all down to the mat. As Levy rolled out, Agony tried pinning Stevens and Read at the same time, but both kicked out. Read and Stevens hit a double suplex on Agony, then Stevens clotheslined he and the Florida Man out of the ring.

Levy made his way back into the ring and faced off with Agony who called for the choke slam. At that moment, seven foot tall Jack Talos entered the ring and choke slammed the massive Agony instead, then left without a word. Levy was shocked and seemed not to know what to do. He would essentially fall on Agony for the pin and become the number one contender to Cha Cha Charlie’s CCW Championship.

WINNER: ARIEL LEVY
