Founded in 2009, Adrenaline Championship Wrestling has been owned by former WWE star James Ellsworth since 2012. Many fans know Ellsworth from his match against Braun Strowman to his time as Carmella’s best friend and “winning” the first Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.
On their Facebook page, ACW claims to cover the Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware area. In reality, just since the beginning of the pandemic, Adrenaline Championship Wrestling has run shows in eight states from Florida to West Virginia, Ohio to Idaho and more.

The venue for this event was Reflections Catering Hall inside Beefalo Bob’s restaurant in Pasadena, Maryland. Beefalo Bob (Bob DiMartino) and his wife Carole began catering for fairs and festivals and for businesses and private parties. After several years of perfecting the art of pit beef, they opened a carryout restaurant in Pasadena, Maryland to compliment the catering services. Several decades and countless pit beef sandwiches later, Beefalo Bob’s has now served millions of satisfied customers.
When I arrived at the venue, the doors were not technically open yet. From the lobby, the catering hall is directly in front of you and the restaurant bar area is off to the right. Following the show, everyone gathered there to watch the All Elite Wrestling pay-per-view All Out, featuring Jon Moxley vs. CM Punk for the AEW World Championship.
MATCH #1
CHRIS WYLDE vs. TARZAN DURAN

As this opening match began to build, a flurry of offense ended with hurricanrana that sent Tarzan to the outside. Chris Wylde attempted a tope suicida but got caught with a punch to the face by Duran, followed by a neck breaker on the ropes. Duran attempted to choke Wylde on the ropes from the outside twice and argued with the referee repeatedly about the legality of such measures.
While Duran argued with the official, Chris Wylde got his second wind. Wylde survived an eye rake and hit a side Russian Leg Sweep, a cross face, and a splash in the corner that sent Duran back to the outside. Tarzan screamed like his fictional namesake as he sprung into the ring with a neck breaker and went back to choking Chris Wylde right in front of the referee.
Duran tried to whip Wylde into one corner, but Wylde summoned enough strength to rebound out of the corner with a clothesline that stunned Tarzan. Duran went for an Irish Whip, but Wylde reversed into a tornado DDT. Realizing the match was slipping through his fingers, Duran hit a Sliced Bread No. 2, picked Wylde up and set him down on the top turnbuckle. Before Duran could superplex him, though, Wylde escaped, kicked Duran down from the top rope, and ended Tarzan with a curb stomp.
WINNER: CHRIS WYLDE
MATCH #2
BULLY CLUB vs. BLK OUT

Robbie Illuminati and Ruckus had Bully Club members Adam Ugly and Mason Martin shaking in their boots before the match could even get started. At one point, Illuminati simply took a hard step forward and Adam Ugly collapsed in fear and had to hug it out with Martin before he would re-engage.
Illuminati and Ruckus teamed up for a double elbow to Adam Ugly, followed by a back cartwheel moonsault from Ruckus. Mason Martin managed to turn the tide by holding Ruckus long enough to double team him without getting disqualified, then, once legally tagged into the match, reversed a Ruckus back handspring into a leg drop for a near fall.
Ugly and Martin worked the hand and arm of Ruckus. Martin stood on Ruckus’ hand, then tagged in Adam Ugly who dropped a knee on the same appendage. Ugly climbed to the second rope to drop another knee, but Ruckus moved and made the tag to Illuminati. Robbie leveled both members of Bully Club as Ruckus climbed to the second rope for BLK OUT’s version of the Demolition Decapitation.
Martin ambushed Illuminati and sent him out of the ring after walking across Robbie’s stomach. Sensing the end was near, James Ellsworth jumped up onto the apron and demanded the tag from Ruckus in Illuminati’s place. Once tagged in, Ellsworth cleared house and started tuning up the band for No Chin Music.
At that moment, however, Illuminati returned to the ring and began arguing with Ellsworth. Martin took advantage and splashed both men into the corner. Ugly picked up a recoiling James Ellsworth for a spinebuster and the victory.
WINNERS: BULLY CLUB
MATCH #3
ADENA STEELE vs. NIKII DUKE

Adena Steele, who I first encountered at Intergender Bonanza IGB10 last November, was clearly the fan favorite in this contest. As Nikii Duke made her way to the ring, the crowd chanted, “You are bougie!” Duke faked a handshake with Steele, but hit her with a knee to the midsection instead, pushed her head into the turnbuckle, and choked Steele with her boot from a standing position.
Steele returned fire with a running boot, a corner splash, and a basement elbow that sent Duke to the outside for a breather. Steele followed and pummeled Duke around ringside until Duke managed to evade a strike and push Steele into the ring post.
Back inside the ring, Duke landed some hard chops to the chest of Steele, held a rear chin lock, and hit a suplex and an ensiguri that nearly ended the match. Steele battled back with another running boot, a lariat and a swinging neck breaker. At that moment, Eric Ecton and Ron Holiday rushed the ring and destroyed both competitors. Steele and Duke teamed up to run off Ecton and Holiday. As they returned to the dressing room, Steele and Duke challenged Ecton and Holiday to a fight at a later date.
RESULT: NO CONTEST
MATCH #4
KINDRED & MICHAELS AMAYDO vs. BEN BISHOP & CHRIS SLADE
KING OF MARYLAND QUALIFIER MATCH

The first King of Maryland Qualifier match of the night created an opportunity for two competitors to earn their way in with a victory in this tag team match. The ACW Champion, Big Ben Bishop and his partner Chris Slade received a heroes welcome following the dark, disturbing entrance of Kindred and the smarmy appearance of his tag partner, Michaels Amaydo.
Amaydo tried to work the leg of the smaller, speedier Slade at the beginning of the match. However, Slade managed to kip up from an Amaydo backslide attempt, hit a hurricanrana and a charging European upper cut, then tagged in Bishop. Amaydo was so stricken with fear that he ran to the corner and tagged in Kindred. As Kindred appeared to argue with a fan, Amaydo distracted Bishop by begging for mercy. Kindred finished with the fan, came up from behind and clipped Bishop’s leg.
Bishop was not down for long. The champion no-sold a shoulder tackle from Kindred, dropped him with a lariat, then sent him to the outside after some hard chops to the chest. Bishop rolled Kindred back into the ring and tagged Slade, who re-entered with a flurry that ended in an incredible cartwheel kick. Kindred tried to counter Slade’s Lethal Injection with a spear but missed.
Ben Bishop tagged back in, crotched Kindred on the ropes and left him there for a big boot to the face that sent both men to the outside. Inside the ring, Slade went for a cazadora into a roll up, but Amaydo had the presence of mind to sit out, hold the ropes for leverage, and get the quick pin before Bishop could do anything to stop it. After the match, Bishop reminded Amaydo that they have a date for a one-on-one championship match on October 14 in Hagerstown, Maryland.
WINNERS: KINDRED & MICHAELS AMAYDO
PROMO

Before the intermission, the man of the hour, Buzz Stryker, came out to address the crowd in anticipation of the final match of his career later that evening against P.J. Parker. Stryker said that he was going out the way he wanted, even though he did not get the opponent he wanted. Stryker said he taught Parker everything Parker knows, but not everything Stryker knows. At that moment, Bully Club and P.J. Parker interrupted the proceedings and attacked Stryker until help arrived from the back and chased the bad guys off.
MATCH #5
WILL KNOX vs. NICK SARACHELLI vs. SICEND
KING OF MARYLAND QUALIFIER TRIPLE THREAT ELIMINATION MATCH

Coming out of the intermission, it was announced that Sicend had been added to the second King of Maryland Qualifier match between Will Knox and Nick Sarachelli. Knox, a D.C. native upset by fan chants of “DC Sucks!” decided not to get in the ring at all. When Sicend and Sarachelli locked up, Knox tried to sneak in and clothesline them both. Instead, they teamed up to knock Knox right back out onto the floor at ringside.
From the outside, Knox waited for Sicend to come off the ropes and pulled him outside the ring, as well. Knox returned to the ring with a spear to Sarachelli. When special referee Gillberg refused to count the pin fast enough, Knox continued with three kicks to Sarachelli, followed by repeated running forearm strikes. Knox continued to punish Sarachelli by choking him with both the ring ropes and his foot.
Unbeknownst to Knox, Sicend snuck back in the ring. When Knox turned around, Sicend hit him with a cutter and looked for the elimination. However, the savvy Sarachelli pushed Sicend aside and pinned Knox himself. The two remaining participants, the fans, and Gillberg took joy in watching the freshly-eliminated Knox head to the showers. Moments later, Sicend went for a cutter to Sarachelli, but Nick reversed into a small package for the sudden victory.
WINNER: NICK SARACHELLI
MATCH #6
VAM WILLIAMS vs. HOSS HAGOOD
GRUDGE MATCH

Next to Buzz Stryker’s final appearance, the biggest crowd pop of the night came when Country Club’s Hoss Hagood entered the arena. His opponent, “Postman Vam” Williams was so angered by this show of support for Hoss, he attacked the big man before the bell rang to shut everyone up. Even still, Hagood managed to throw Williams tag team partner, Doyle Day out of the ring before turning his attention to Williams.
Hagood dropped the Postman with a shoudler tackle, whipped Vam into the ropes, stopped Vam in his tracks, told Vam to look up, then punched Vam in the mouth. Williams would move out of the way when Hagood telegraphed an elbow drop and immediately tried to choke Hoss out with his shirt. The referee put a stop to that, but, with the referee distracted, Doyle Day continued choking Hagood from outside the ring.
With Hagood already down, Williams went to work on the leg. The Postman dropped an elbow on the leg, he dropped a leg on the leg, and hit a dragon screw leg whip to Hagood. After a vicious stomp to Hagood’s head, Vam tried to come off the ropes, but got reversed into an atomic drop.
From the other corner, Hagood’s Country Club partner, LK, climbed up on the apron to offer his partner a beer to power him up like Popeye with spinach. Williams grabbed the beer instead, shook it up, and threw it across the ring. LK tried to get it back, but not before Doyle Day picked up the beer and clocked Hoss Hagood in the head with it as Williams collapsed on top of him.
WINNER: VAM WILLIAMS
MATCH #7
BUZZ STRYKER vs. P.J. PARKER
BUZZ STRYKER’S FINAL MATCH

For this special retirement match, Maryland wrestling legend, “Hollywood” Bob Starr was called on to be guest referee and he would have his hands full. Stryker started the match with all of the momentum as he hit consecutive splashes on Parker in each of the four corners. Later, Stryker would touch all four corners again as he chopped Parker around the edge of the ring.
The early onslaught sent Parker to the outside to regroup with his Bully Club stable mate, Adam Ugly. Stryker followed and threw Parker back inside, but could not get back in the ring himself, From the floor, Adam Ugly held onto Stryker’s foot to delay his re-entry into the ring. This gave Parker the opportunity to take control of the match. Adam Ugly used a referee distraction to choke Stryker on the ring ropes, then Parker came behind and sat on Stryker’s back to choke him even more.
Stryker turned the tide when a double clothesline left both men down on the mat. Stryker was up first and hit a clothesline to set up a second rope leg drop. Parker countered with a belly to belly suplex that nearly sealed the victory. Upset at the slow count, Parker turned his attention to referee Bob Starr and tried attack him in the corner, Starr, a ring veteran, saw it coming and slammed Parker’s head into the turnbuckle, then hit several chops, a stunner to Parker and a stunner to Adam Ugly.
Stryker crawled over to attempt the pin, but took too long and only garnered a two count. Parker would follow with a lariat, but also managed just a two count. The second lariat ended with the same result. Finally, though, as the crowd chanted, “Let’s go Mad Dog!” Parker hit a third lariat followed by big splash to put Stryker away for good.
As Parker and Ugly celebrated their win, the rest of the locker room surrounded the ring to celebrate Stryker. James Ellsworth took the microphone and announced that Buzz Stryker would be the second entrant in the ACW Hall of Fame. Stryker was overcome with emotion and took the time to thank each and every person in the crowd for their support.
WINNER: P.J. PARKER
