TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 109

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 109 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at Bash at the Brew 20 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on September 3, 2022. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
ELEVATED STATUS (c) vs. KERRY MORTON & RICKY MARTINEZ
CCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

ERA takes advantage of a distracted referee to ensure victory for Elevated Status

Kerry Morton was pumped up to start this match and tried to get the crowd pumped up too. However, the multitude of ERA shirts visible in the crowd should’ve told him that the tag champs had their share of supporters, as well. As the match began, Morton used several headlock takeovers to thwart any offense by Jonny Nova. Morton tagged in Ricky Martinez as chants of “305! 305!” rang throughout the venue. Martinez called for Nova to tag ERA and Nova reluctantly agreed.

ERA and Ricky Martinez started with a high-speed flurry of chain wrestling with neither gaining an advantage until Martinez used a drop toe hold to get ERA onto the mat for a good paint-brushing to the back of the head. ERA charged, but got reversed into a second rope hurricanrana. When Jonny Nova tagged back in, Martinez used a cazadora to roll Nova right out of the ring where he grabbed a kendo stick before thinking better of the idea.

Nova would return to the ring and counter a Kerry Morton arm bar with an eye rake before quickly tagging out. ERA used the bottom rope to choke Kerry Morton until the ref called for a break, then distracted the referee as Tracy Nyxx continued to choke Morton. When Nova returned, he used a chin lock submission to slow the match down until Morton connected with a chin breaker to create some space.

This brought all four men into the ring. Morton and Martinez simultaneously whipped their opponents into the corner, landed a splash, and connected with a double bulldog. ERA rolled outside the ring as the referee tried to regain order and get Martinez out of the ring, as well. With the referee’s attention diverted, ERA grabbed a kendo stick from ringside and nailed Morton in the back. Unaware, the referee turned around to find Jonny Nova covering Morton and counted to three

Gangrel chases off Dan Lambert and Jack Talos

After the insanity of last week’s confrontation with Dan Lambert, it appeared that Bill Alfonso would grab the microphone and offer a response to the situation. However, Dan Lambert never gave Fonzie a chance. This time, Dan Lambert was not alone. He appeared from the dressing room with a microphone in his hand and big Jack Talos behind him.

Even though Lambert claimed not to be there for a confrontation, it did not take long for him to disparage the fans in Hialeah. Lambert said he sees so many bars on windows in Hialeah and wondered if that was to keep people out or to keep the people inside those buildings from having to go outside and experience that “shithole of a city.”

Lambert initially criticized the fans for cheering for a washed up ECW guy like Alfonso. However, when he entered the ring, Lambert told Alfonso that he apologized for any disrespectful things he said about Alfonso in the past. The fans begged Alfonso not to shake Lambert’s extended hand, but Alfonso did anyway. Lambert immediately kicked Alfonso in the stomach and attacked him in the corner.

With Alfonso a bloody mess in the corner, Talos decimated several members of the CCW staff who tried to intervene. Lambert began strutting around the ring until he saw Gangrel run in from the back. At that point, Lambert and Talos high-tailed it to safety.

“Alive” airs on YouTube on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM EDT. Stay tuned next week for episode 110 featuring Ariel Levy defending the CCW Heavyweight Championship against Gangrel plus much more!!!
