TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 116

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 116 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at Bash at the Brew 21 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on October 1, 2022. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
JAI VIDAL (c) vs. COLE KARTER
CCW CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

AEW’s Cole Karter and IMPACT’s newest signee, Jai Vidal, took some time getting used to each other early in this match until Vidal pulled down the ropes and sent a charging Karter out of the ring. Vidal tried to follow with a tope suicida, but Karter caught him mid-air and slammed him into the guardrail. The action returned to the ring, briefly, until Karter whipped Vidal into one corner so hard Vidal flipped over and back out onto the floor.

Vidal would finally start a rally when he hit an ensiguri to the face of Karter that left both men down. Vidal kipped up first and, in quick succession, hit a basement dropkick, a corner clothesline, a suplex and a top rope elbow drop. In response, Karter managed to reverse a hurricanrana into a buckle bomb followed by a spine buster.

Karter tried another powerbomb into a buckle bomb, but this time, Vidal reversed him into a hurricanarana, followed with a dropkick and a double underhook DDT, then climbed back to the top rope. Karter made it to his feet and put Vidal in a fireman’s carry. Vidal escaped, but got hit with a ripcord knee and a Michinoku driver. That garnered Karter just a two count, so Cole went for a suplex. However, Vidal was ready and reversed the suplex into a small package for the sudden victory.

WINNER: JAI VIDAL

MATCH #2
GIO STEEZ vs. DAISY KILL

It was announced that The Bulgarian Punisher, Meto, was not medically cleared for this match and would be replaced by fan favorite, Gio Steez. However, Meto would be heard from before it was all said and done. First, Daisy Kill had to come out to the ring and, with his ukulele, sing a song disparaging the fans.

Gio Steez arrived to loud cheers from the CCW faithful hoping to see Daisy Kill get what he deserved. Early on, Steez was in control. Gio evaded a strike from Daisy and hit a back body drop, spine buster, and a spear very quickly. However, as Daisy Kill got Gio tangled up in the ropes Meto ran in from the back and leveled Daisy Kill with a spear. After the referee called for the disqualification, Meto challenged Daisy Kill to a return match at CCW Breakout 17.

WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: DAISY KILL

“Alive” airs on YouTube on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM EDT. Stay tuned next week for episode 117!!!
