TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 138

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 138 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at Bash at the Brew 27 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on April 7, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
ARIEL LEVY (c) vs. ERA
CCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

ERA’s opportunity to cash in on his King of the Territory match from CCW Alive Episode 124 finally arrived at Bash at the Brew 27. The match started slowly with both competitors jockeying for an advantage until the first commercial break. When we returned, ERA faked a springboard plancha, landed on the apron instead, and hit a moonsault onto Ariel Levy on the floor. Levy countered by snapping ERA’s neck on the ropes and throwing him into the steel steps at ringside.

ERA managed to evade a charging Levy, sending the champion’s knee crashing into the steps, then threw Levy in the ring and wrapped his legs around the ring post. As Levy writhed in pain, ERA slid into the ring and locked Levy in a figure four. Levy eventually kicked out of the move and sent ERA crashing into the turnbuckles, then followed with Meteora knees in one corner and an exploder suplex for a near fall.

At this point, Levy began to focus on the injured shoulder of ERA. Still hobbling on his own injured knee, Levy hit Codebreaker knees to ERA’s shoulder, threw him into the corner and hit four consecutive elbows to the shoulder, and locked ERA in an arm bar. Levy got a near fall after a leg drop from the second rope, but ERA nearly stole the match with a quick crucifix for a two count.

Later, ERA would reverse another Levy Codebreaker into another figure four leg lock. This time, the savvy champion managed to take hold of ERA’s hand while still locked in the hold, and yanked on the injured shoulder hard enough to force a break. Quickly, Levy lifted ERA into a torture rack and converted into a modified A.A. for a near fall.

ERA was up quickly and charged with a flying forearm, but Levy ducked and ERA crashed into referee Amy Veronica and knocked her out cold. When ERA went over to check on the fallen official, Levy snuck up, hit a Codebreaker, and made the cover. With no referee to count the pinfall, Levy called on Allan S2S Martinez at ringside to hand him the championship belt to use on ERA. Martinez, lately questioning his allegiance to Levy, hesitated when asked for the belt.

Incensed, Levy went outside the ring and grabbed the belt himself, then re-entered the ring and charged at ERA. Luckily, ERA ducked the belt shot and countered with a GTS. ERA made the cover as Amy Veronica came to and slowly crawled over to make the count. Unfortunately, the delay allowed Levy enough time to kick out at the very last second. When both men made it to their feet, Levy reversed an Irish Whip into the corner, but ERA moved when Levy charged. The challenger leapt to the second rope for a sunset flip. However, the champion had the presence of mind to stop the momentum from taking him over, sat down on ERA, and held his legs tight to earn the victory.

After the match, Levy and Martinez began to argue in the center of the ring. As the verbal sparring escalated, Levy slapped Martinez across the face. Martinez angrily lifted Levy up and nailed him with a GTS as Meto ran in from the back. Meto went for a spear, Martinez moved, and Meto leveled Ariel Levy by mistake as the fans and Allan S2S Martinez looked on with glee.

WINNER: ARIEL LEVY
