Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 139 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at CCW Anniversary 19 from the MidFlorida Events Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida on April 21, 2023. Here is what happened:
MATCH #1
JONNY NOVA vs. ERA
NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH
We all knew this showdown was coming after Jonny Nova turned on his former Elevated Status partner, ERA, on CCW Alive Episode 130 and I can’t imagine any fan in attendance was disappointed in this no-disqualification match. When the episode opened, Jonny Nova was attacking ERA outside the ring before the bell rang. The brawl spilled all over the venue with ERA gaining the early advantage by using objects at ringside (like a door and the merch table) as well as objects handed to him by fans (like a plastic cotton candy bucket for some reason).
Still on the outside of the ring, Nova would turn the tide when he, like Ariel Levy in last week’s episode, used the steel ring steps to attack the injured shoulder of ERA. When the two competitors finally made it into the ring and the match officially started, Nova wrapped the injured arm around the ropes and hit a running boot on the damaged appendage, then choked ERA with what looked like wrist tape.
ERA tried to rally several times, but was hampered by the shoulder injury and the damage done by Jonny Nova. At one point, ERA used a low blow to create some space, but Nova countered with another boot to the shoulder, then flung ERA into the ring post shoulder first not once, but twice. Later, ERA fired himself up after he spit on Nova from across the ring. ERA sprung to his feet, hit a series of double axe handle chest shots, a splash in the corner, and ten punches to Nova’s face standing on the second rope while the fans counted along
ERA slammed the mat to fire himself, and the crowd, up, but missed on a clothesline and got hit with a nasty shoulder breaker from Jonny Nova. When that failed to earn the victory, Nova went for a cross arm breaker. When ERA rolled over on top of Nova and forced a break, Nova went for an arm bar that was quickly reversed by ERA into an urunage. Unfortunately, ERA continued to writhe in pain on the mat and was unable to capitalize.
ERA did make it to his feet first and repeatedly stomped Nova who had slumped into one corner. ERA somehow lifted Nova onto the second rope, but got kicked in the shoulder by Nova. Nova leapt from the second rope, but missed the move and seemed to land funny on his knee. Nova fell into the corner and begged the referee for help as ERA tried to mount more offense.
For some reason, the referee blocked ERA while she was assisting Nova, even though this was a no-DQ match, and ended up assisting Nova in playing possum. At the right moment, Nova jumped up with a boot to the face of ERA and slammed ERA’s shoulder into the mat. Nova went back to the wrist tape choke and seemed to have the match in hand when, suddenly, ERA rolled over and through. He reversed the choke, ended up with the tape in his own hands, and choked Jonny Nova until he passed out completely.
WINNER: ERA
MATCH #2
MARINA TUCKER (c) vs. JADE
CCW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
The CCW Women’s Champion Marina Tucker has been on a roll since winning the championship back from Kilynn King in a triple threat match back in November. Her opponent for this episode, Jade, gave the champion all she could handle for much of the match. Off of the opening bell, Jade hit a shoulder tackle, cross body and a leg drop.
The champion would turn the tide briefly with a quick snap mare and basement dropkick, followed by a cartwheel elbow drop for a near fall. However, when Tucker stood on the second rope over Jade, the challenger snuck under her legs and yanked her down to the mat. From there, Jade went back on offense. She hit two running clotheslines, facebuster, and a reverse DDT into an elbow drop.
Jade’s attempt at a fisherman’s suplex was blocked and reversed into a snap suplex by Tucker. Tucker tried a reverse DDT that Jade countered with a sudden stunner that sent Tucker rolling to the apron. When Jade approached, Tucker snapped her neck on the top rope, quickly slid back in the ring and hit her finisher. Just like that, Jade’s night was over.
WINNER: MARINA TUCKER
