TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 144

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 144 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW Hialeah Heat from the The Yards in Hialeah, Florida on May 13, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
LABRAVA vs. TRACY NYXX

La Brava had Tracy Nyxx on the ropes early after a flurry of offense, including a shoulder tackle, headbutt, dropkick, running European Upper Cut, and a reverse neck breaker. Nyxx quickly fled to the ringside area, but, when La Brava followed, hid under the ring to avoid detection. When the moment was right, Nyxx re-emerged, snuck up on La Brava and shoved her into the ring post.

Nyxx was fully in control when we returned from commercial. She raked La Brava’s back, then draped her neck over the middle rope and choked her with a knee to the back. After a snap DDT garnered just a two count, Nyxx locked La Brava in a body scissors.

When Nyxx released the hold, she and La Brava exchanged punches in the center of the ring until an elbow to the face from La Brava swung the momentum. Quickly, La Brava followed with a savate kick and an ensiguri, then slammed the mat before hitting a step up kick and another ensiguri.

Nyxx used a chinbreaker to briefly thwart La Brava’s offense, but one headbutt from La Brava dropped Nyxx like a bag of flour. La Brava hit a spinebuster for a near fall and lifted Nyxx into a fireman’s carry, but the savvy Nyxx used an eye rake to escaped the hold and hit Eat Defeat for the victory.

WINNER: TRACY NYXX

MATCH #2
ERA vs. ALEX CHAMBERLAIN

As this match started, ERA used a cross body to stun Alex Chamberlain and send him to the outside to regroup. When the action skipped ahead, though, it was Chamberlain in control hitting several hard blows to ERA’s back to set up a surfboard submission. ERA managed to escape, but Chamberlain used a back elbow to drop ERA back to the mat and followed with an axe handle to ERA’s back.

Chamberlain countered ERA coming off the ropes with a snap powerslam, then climbed to the second rope for another axe handle. This time, ERA got one boot up in Chamberlain’s face which was enough to get a rally started. ERA hit two clotheslines, a leg lariat, a splash in the corner, and a missile dropkick before slamming the mat as the fans chanted his name.

ERA charged one more, but Chamberlain countered with two savate kicks and a spinebuster. Chamberlain sat on ERA’s chest and began pounding him to the dismay of the referee who tried desperately to get Chamberlain off of ERA. Somehow, it appeared that Alex Chamberlain struck referee Andy Seeley during that exchange, which left Seeley no choice but to call for the DQ.

WINNER BY DISQUALIFICATION: ERA
