TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 146

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 146 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode matches were pre-taped at CCW Hialeah Heat from the The Yards in Hialeah, Florida on May 13, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
THE QROWN (c) vs. THE NEW DYNASTY
CCW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Cameron Fox and Jake Sterling, dressed in all pink and black like the old Hart Dynasty, and using their old finisher, the Hart Attack, looked to do what no other team in CCW has yet been able to do, unseat The Qrown for the CCW Tag Team Championships. After the introductions, we skipped forward to the end of the match with Sterling Fox in control against Leonis Khan of The Qrown.

Fox was working the leg of Leonis to set up a Sharpshooter, but Khan had enough strength left to kick out before Fox could lock it in, and made the hot tag to Maximus. Jake Sterling tagged in and tried to whip Maximus into the ropes, but got locked into a Khan’s Sharpshooter briefly until Cameron Fox made the save.

Fox knocked Leonis off the apron and The New Dynasty lifted Khan up for the Hart Attack. Fox started to come off the ropes, but, at that moment, Leonis, from the floor, tripped Fox and pulled him outside the ring. Maximus wriggled out of Sterling’s grasp and hit a clothesline in the corner just as Leonis returned to the ring and speared Sterling out of his shoes.

WINNERS: THE QROWN

MATCH #2
ARIEL LEVY (c) vs. ALAN ‘S2S’ MARTINEZ
CCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Three weeks ago, on Alive Episode 143, Alan ‘S2S’ Martinez and Jackal Stevens got the win in a tag team main event versus CCW Champion Ariel Levy & Meto to set up this CCW Championship match between former friends and allies, Levy and Martinez. With Martinez clearly having been on his mind ever since, Ariel Levy jumped Martinez as soon as he came through the curtain for his entrance and flung him face first into the steel ring steps.

At first, it seemed like Martinez may not be able to continue, but after Levy missed a second rope leg drop to Martinez on the apron, S2S, took advantage with a basement dropkick from inside the ring, then hit a tope suicida onto the floor and threw Levy back inside. Martinez hit a springboard stomp to Levy as he re-entered the ring from the apron, but missed on a split-legged moonsault, which allowed Levy to take over.

Levy capitalized with a boot choke in the corner, charged and hit Meteora knees on Martinez, then got a near fall with an Exploder Suplex. When that failed to earn the victory, Levy locked Martinez in a cross face in the center of the ring. Martinez rolled Levy over for a quick pinfall attempt, then managed to block Levy’s attempt at a code breaker and countered with a modified STF from a standing position.

After the commercial, it was Martinez in firm control of the match. Martinez hit a flying forearm off of an Irish Whip, followed with two dropkicks and came off the ropes with a lariat. Levy tried to reverse an Irish Whip, but Martinez, with the hot hand, leapt up to the top rope, did a backflip over the champion and hit a German Suplex. Quickly, Martinez leapt to the top rope and actually hit the moonsault, but still could not get the three count.

Levy got a boot up on a charging Martinez, but S2S followed and looked for a Frankensteiner. Levy used a low blow out of the view of the referee to set up a powerbomb for a near fall, then lifted Martinez into a Torture Rack. Martinez escaped and hit a short power bomb, then lifted Levy into the Torture Rack, as well, looking for the GTS. Levy escaped and actually hit a Torture Rack Facebuster to Martinez for another near fall.

Again, Levy climbed to the top rope, but Martinez jumped up with an ensiguri to slow the champion, then climbed up to the top rope and hit a Spanish Fly. Somehow, that was still not enough to put Levy away. Frustrated, Martinez called for, and hit, the GTS. This time, however, the savvy champion had the presence of mind to roll out of the ring before Martinez could make the cover.

As Martinez looked outside the ring at Levy, Meto ran in from the back and went for a spear on Martinez. S2S moved and dropkicked Meto over the top rope as the crowd went wild with anticipation of a possible title change. Levy used the distraction to grab a foreign object from ringside and tried to hit Martinez with it as he climbed back inside the ring.

Martinez saw the object, blocked Levy from using it, and flipped the champion into the ring. From his tights, though, Levy appeared to pull out another weapon, this time a pair of brass knuckles. Martinez tried to lift Levy up for a second GTS, but Levy clocked Martinez with the brass knuckles out of the view of the referee and followed with a code breaker for the win.

WINNER: ARIEL LEVY
