Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 158 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW Summer Glory 2023 from the Texas Troubador Theater in Nashville, Tennessee on August 19, 2023. Here is what happened:
MATCH #1
BEASTMAN (c) vs. COLBY CARTER
CCW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
If Colby Carter was going to have a chance to take the CCW International Championship away from Beastman, he would have to find a way to get Beastman off of his feet. This proved to be quite a challenge for Colby Carter, especially with Lew Spectre lurking at ringside.
After the first commercial, Carter tried to reverse a whip into the corner with an up-and-over into an arm drag, but Beastman simply blocked Carter and dropped him to the mat with one blow. Beastman tossed Carter outside the ring and maintained control until Carter avoided a palm strike which caused Beastman’s hand to hit the ring post.
An angered Beastman pursued and attempted more palm strikes, but Carter moved each time. Beastman managed to hit an eye rake as Lew Spectre attempted to nail Carter with Beastman’s gigantic bone. Spectre missed and hit Beastman instead, but hit Carter’s leg with the bone as Colby attempted to follow Beastman back into the ring. Carter turned around and chased Spectre around the ring until Beastman used the distraction to attack Carter once more.
When the action returned to the ring, Beastman held a front face lock on Carter for a while until Carter hit a chinbuster and went for a sunset flip. Still standing, Beastman reached down and goozled Carter to block the move. Carter fought out of the chokeslam and hit two splashes in the corner, but Beastman countered Carter’s third splash attempt with a big boot to the face.
From there, Beastman slowed things down with a deliberate offense, at one point holding a bear hug on Carter until Colby nearly passed out. Finally, Carter showed signs of life, punched his way out, and went for another sunset flip. Beastman tried to sit out instead, but Carter moved this time.
Invigorated, Carter started unloading with dropkicks, but Beastman would not go down. Each of three consecutive second rope tomahawk chops nearly did the trick, but not quite. Another standing dropkick had Beastman wobbling, so Carter tried to capitalize off the ropes, but Beastman caught Carter on the rebound with a spinning urunage for a near fall to thwart the most promising rally yet.
At this point, even Carter’s most ardent supporters had to be losing faith that Carter could pull off the miracle. Beastman hit two nasty power bombs, followed by a pump handle slam, then sat on Carter’s chest and pummeled the challenger with punches. Looking to add insult to injury, Lew Spectre gave Beastman his bone. The referee saw the exchange and took the bone from Beastman.
As a befuddled Beastman watched the referee remove the bone from the ring, Colby Carter snuck up behind the beast with a small package for the stunning victory to win the CCW International Championship. Beastman and Spectre immediately attacked Carter after the bell until Chase Stevens ran down with a steel chair to even the odds.
Last week’s episode should have told me a run-in with a chair would be bad news, but I was still shocked when Stevens betrayed Carter and leveled him with that chair.
WINNER AND NEW CHAMPION: COLBY CARTER
