TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 162

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 162 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at CCW Bash at the Brew 32 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on September 2, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
MADMAN FULTON vs. CHRIS FARROW

This episode opened with Chris Farrow face-to-face with Madman Fulton telling Fulton he is not scared of the madman. Fulton responded by ramming Farrow’s head into the buckle repeatedly. Fulton followed with a flapjack, then lifted Forrow into a suplex and threw him forward instead of falling back. Fulton maintained control by choking Farrow on the ropes until the referee forced a break.

Farrow would counter a back drop by landing on his feet and connected with a series of forearms in an attempt to rally. After a shoulder tackle barely phased Fulton, Farrow came off the ropes with a sleeper hold. Fulton escaped the hold by flipping Farrow over onto the mat, then charged with a big boot. Farrow ducked the boot and flipped Fulton over the top rope to the floor. Farrow tried to follow with a tope suicida, but Fulton caught Chris in mid-air and flung him back into the ring.

Somehow Farrow got to his feet before Fulton re-entered and stunned the big man with a boot through the ropes. Farrow hit the apron and tried to springboard back in, but Fulton caught him again in mid-air, this time converting into a Black Hole Slam. Fulton lifted Farrow into a fireman’s carry and started to climb the ropes, but Farrow escaped with a sunset flip bomb for a near fall.

As the match wound down, Farrow climbed to the top rope for a 450 splash. Once again, Fulton caught Farrow and reversed. Fulton put one arm up as Farrow flew through the air, caught Farrow by the throat and dropped him with a choke slam. Not done, Fulton lifted Farrow off the mat by his throat and hit another to earn the victory. After the match, Fulton hit one more choke slam for good measure.

WINNER: MADMAN FULTON

MATCH #2
MILA MOORE vs. RUTHIE JAY

Ruthie Jay, who I just saw live in Cleveland at NWA Samhain, and who (based on spoilers) has a very bright future in CCW following this event, was clearly the crowd favorite in her match with the cocky Mila Moore. Jay would take control of the match early after a kip up handstand, arm drag, running Meteora knees, somersault spear, and a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall.

Mila Moore would turn the tide in her favor when she ducked a spinning heel kick and countered with a savate kick. Moore tried to slow things down and choked Ruthie on the middle rope until the referee forced a break, then pummeled Jay with a series of boots in the corner.

Jay tried to mount a rally when a sunset flip from the apron earned a near fall, but Mila Moore countered with a big boot and pulled Jay down to the mat by her hair to regain control. When we returned from commercial, Moore had Jay locked in a modified rear chin lock on the mat, then lifted Ruthie into a fireman’s carry.

Ruthie Jay punched her way out of the fireman’s and hit a side Russian leg sweep that left both women down. The two competitors rose to their feet simultaneously and exchanged punches in the center of the ring until Jay hit a clothes line and a drop kick, followed by several boots in the corner.

Ruthie hit a suplex, rolled through and looked for the Faith Buster, but Moore wriggled out just in time and hit a leg drop for a near fall. Jay slumped into one corner and Moore followed with Yakuza Kick and put her feet on the ropes for leverage as she made the cover. The referee caught Moore and refused to make the count. As Moore argued with the referee, Ruthie Jay came up from behind with a roll up and put her feet on the ropes for leverage to get the win. Furious, Mila Moore attacked Ruthie Jay after the bell.

WINNER: RUTHIE JAY
