TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 168

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 168 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW Bash at the Brew 34 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on November 4, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
Q.T. MARSHALL (c) vs. FUEGO DEL SOL
AAA LATIN AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Q.T. Marshall seemed disinterested in engaging with Fuego del Sol at all as this match began. After the first commercial, Fuego got his hands on Marshall. A long flurry of offense ended with a dropkick, then Fuego signaled for the Tornado DDT. Marshall escaped and hit a palm strike, but Fuego countered with a spinning head scissors and another dropkick that sent Marshall out to the floor.

Fuego jumped onto the apron for a punt kick, then jumped down to the floor with a double axe handle, leading to a ringside brawl. Del Sol hit a double stomp on the apron, then slammed Marshall’s face into the steel steps before throwing him back into the ring.

Marshall turned the tide when del Sol tried to springboard back into the ring. Marshall caught Fuego in mid-air with an upper cut, then jumped to the second rope for a flying knee strike. Fuego tried to fight back from his knees, but Marshall snuffed out the rally with a back handspring ensiguri and began taunting the crowd with his success.

Marshall continued to dominate and taunt the crowd until Marshall reversed a Satellite DDT with a punch to the face. Remaining confident, Marshall began shoving Fuego in the face insultingly. Each shove fueled Fuego more and more. Finally, he whipped Marshall into the ropes for two flying forearms, then followed with an ensiguri, springboard moonsault, and a double stomp for a near fall.

The challenger signaled for the Tornado DDT once more and climbed to the top rope, but Marshall caught him and knocked him down. Marshall climbed up and went for a cutter, but Fuego knocked Marshall off the top turnbuckle and onto the top rope, stomach-first, and hit a double stomp.

Fuego climbed back up to the top and Marshall followed again. Fuego jumped over Marshall back to the mat, but turned around and got hit with a boot to the face. Marshall tried for a power bomb, but Fuego amazingly reversed that into a Canadian Destroyer for a near fall.

As the match began to crescendo, Fuego climbed back to the top, but Marshall hit him with an ensiguri Marshall lifted Fuego into a fireman’s carry, but Fuego escaped and hit a hurricanrana. Marshall rolled to the outside, but Fuego hit a tope suicida and tossed Marshall back into the ring.

Fuego climbed to the top rope, hit the Tornado DDT and made the cover for the win. However, as Fuego celebrated with his new championship, referee Amy Veronica ran in from the back to inform the referee in the ring that Marshall’s foot was under the rope. The match restarted and Marshall went for a quick roll-up, but Fuego kicked out at two.

Del Sol pushed Marshall into the corner and almost squished the referee, but Marshall managed to put on the brakes at the last second. As Fuego approached, Marshall hit a low blow kick, with the referee’s view obstructed, then hit a cutter for the win. After the match Marshall and Fuego shook hands in a mutual sign of respect.

WINNER: Q.T. MARSHALL
