TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 169

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 169 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW Bash at the Brew 34 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on November 4, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
ALEX CHAMBERLAIN vs. RICKY MARTINEZ
STEEL CAGE MATCH

Ricky Martinez and Alex Chamberlain each spent the opening moments of the match trying to be the first to shove the other’s face into the cage. Chamberlain struck first, then raked Martinez’ face along the steel as we went to commercial. When we returned, Chamberlain slowed things down with a rear chin lock on the mat.

Later, Chamberlain slammed Martinez’ face into the cage once more and waved to the back. Meto, Joe Nelson, and James Tapia ran out from the back and surrounded the cage. Nelson climbed the cage and tossed in a steel chair for Chamberlain’s benefit. With the referee helpless to intervene, Chamberlain slammed Martinez’ back with the chair, then choked Ricky with it.

Finally, Martinez battled back. Ricky was whipped into the corner, but got a back elbow up as Chamberlain charged. Martinez got a boot up when Chamberlain tried again, then followed with shotgun drop kick from the second rope that left both men down. Feeling a shift in momentum, Martinez unloaded with a series of shots to the face. However, when Martinez came off the ropes, Chamberlain hit a big boot to the face.

Chamberlain went back to the chair, this time kicking of one of the metal support rods from the bottom. Surprisingly, Chamberlain used the metal rod as a makeshift wrench and used it to loosen, and eventually completely remove, the top ropes. Chamberlain turned the turnbuckle backwards and hit Martinez in the face with it, then used the loosened ring ropes to choke Ricky.

When Chamberlain tried to jam the chair support rod in Martinez’ eye, referee Bruce Owen grabbed it to try to prevent a serious injury. Angered, Chamberlain turned around and clocked the referee with the steel rod, prompting multiple referees to come out from the back to check on Owen.

After the commercial, Chamberlain looked to escape the cage through the door left wide open by the referees who ran in. For some reason, though, he turned around to do more damage to Martinez instead. Martinez battled from his knees, took the object from Chamberlain and hit Alex in the face with it.

With the rally in full swing, Martinez wrapped his legs around Chamberlain’s head and slammed it into the mat ten times as the fans counted along. Chamberlain took a chair shot to the back, then waved toward the dressing room for backup. Martinez hit another chair shot, a savate kick, and a leaping neck breaker for a near fall as Tapia, Nelson, and Meto returned from the back.

This time, though, ERA, Domino, and Spitz were right behind them and the six men brawled around ringside until multiple referees restored order and sent them to the dressing room. Inside the ring, Chamberlain seemed to be back in control after a whip sent Martinez crashing into the steel chair which had been set up between the turnbuckles.

As Martinez collided with the steel chair and slumped to the ground, ERA snuck in from the back and made his way into the ring through the cage door. Chamberlain had no idea ERA was there until he turned around and got hit with a superkick. ERA grabbed the chair and set it on the mat and Martinez hit a piledriver onto it to finally earn the win.

WINNER: RICKY MARTINEZ
