TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 171

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 171 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at CCW Bash at the Brew 35 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on December 2, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
JACKAL STEVENS (c) vs. FER ROJAS
CCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

CCW Champion Jackal Stevens came out to address the fans on what was supposed to be a night off for the champion. Stevens said the King of the Territory match provides the winner a chance at the future shot at the championship, but offered an open challenge to anyone in the back who wanted a shot right there and then.

Fer Rojas entered from the dressing room to answer the challenge and the impromptu match began immediately. Stevens grabbed a hammer lock and insultingly slapped Rojas on the butt. After the reset, Stevens hit a shoulder tackle off the ropes which sent Rojas to the outside to regroup.

Stevens followed and the two men battled at ringside until Stevens threw Rojas back inside and hit a springboard senton from the apron for a near fall. Rojas managed to stay alive when he blocked a charging Stevens with a back elbow and an eye rake, then choked the champion with the middle rope until the referee forced a break. Rojas tried to come off the ropes to capitalize, but Stevens reversed with a drop kick and two clotheslines to set up the Olympic Slam for the win.

WINNER: JACKAL STEVENS

MATCH #2
METO (c) vs. ARIEL LEVY
CCW SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP

Meto attacked Ariel Levy during his entrance and pummeled him with the ring steps. When the action finally made it’s way into the ring, Meto called for the bell as a bloody Ariel Levy slumped into one corner. As soon as the match began, Meto hit a splash in the corner, choked Levy with his boot, and tossed him overhead with a belly-to-belly.

Meto set up in one corner for a spear, but Levy managed to get a boot up. Levy jumped to the second rope, but Meto regrouped and hit an upper cut and threw Levy back down to the mat. Meto set up for a spear once more, but Levy managed to move out of the way. Levy followed with a step-up knee strike and a reverse neck breaker that sent Meto to the outside.

Levy came right behind with a tope suicida, then another. Ariel tossed Meto back into the ring and hit a Tornado DDT for a near fall. Levy withstood a leaping kick to the face and countered with a modified fireman’s carry cutter for another near fall. Levy climbed to the second rope, but Meto waited for him to jump and speared Ariel in mid-air. For some reason, Meto pulled Levy’s head up at the count of two, but then locked Levy in a camel clutch until the referee stopped the match.

Afterward, Meto accosted the referee, then attacked Levy again. Meto hit three spears to a lifeless Levy, then went outside the ring and grabbed a chair. Meto wrapped the chair around Levy’s neck, but Vinicious ran in to save Levy before Meto could do more damage. Once Meto fled, Vinicious and Levy had a brief stand-off in the ring before Vinicious that ended with a hug and a reconciliation for the former South American Alliance.

WINNER: METO

MATCH #3
RUTHIE JAY (c) vs. LINDSAY SNOW
CCW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

New CCW Women’s Champion Ruthie Jay offered a handshake to start this title defense against Lindsay Snow. In response, Snow grabbed her arm and went for a cross arm breaker. Jay would even the score with a flying head scissors reversal, followed by a hip toss and a Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall.

Snow regained the edge with a back breaker off of an Irish Whip and a front slam for a near fall. Jay rolled out of the ring, but Snow followed with a basement drop kick, leading to a lengthy ringside brawl. After a series of chops from Snow, Ruthie Jay managed to push Snow into the ring steps, then tossed her back into the ring. Jay re-entered with a rolling face buster for a near fall, then Snow reversed an Irish Whip and hit a snap suplex for one of her own. Snow followed with a Fisherman’s suplex for another near fall.

Later in the match, Snow lifted the champion onto the top turnbuckle and climbed up with her. A back and forth exchange of blows at the top ended when Snow headbutted Jay down to the floor. The same impact sent Snow falling backward onto the mat, then outside the ring. Snow was up first and threw Jay into the ring steps but no one paid attention as the referee counted both women out of the ring.

RESULT: DOUBLE COUNTOUT
