TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 176

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 176 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW Bash at the Brew 36 from Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on January 6, 2024. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
Q.T. MARSHALL vs. ALEX CHAMBERLAIN (SPECIAL REFEREE: JACKAL STEVENS)
CCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDER’S MATCH

We pick up Bash at the Brew early in the evening with Alex Chamberlain coming to the ring to address the fans. Chamberlain said he was the real winner of the King of the Territory match and is the rightful number one contender to the CCW Championship. Chamberlain demanded his title match right then and threatened to bring the show to a halt until he got it.

At that point, Q.T. Marshall, the actual winner of the King of the Territory match, came to the ring and challenged Chamberlain to a number one contender match later that evening. The catch? The special referee would be CCW Heavyweight Champion, Jackal Stevens.

Chamberlain wasted no time and attacked Marshall while the special referee conducted his pre-match inspection of the competitors. The action moved into the corner where Chamberlain continued his attack until referee Jackal Stevens broke it up and warned Alex. Marshall took that chance to attack Chamberlain in the same corner. Again, Stevens got in between them, broke it up, and warned Marshall.

Moments later, Marshall hit a neck breaker that sent Chamberlain to the outside and followed him out to set up a brawl around ringside. At one point, Chamberlain tried to hit Marshall with a chair, but Jackal Stevens took it from Alex before he could do any damage. Marshall tossed Chamberlain into the ring and climbed to the top for a double axe handle, then called for the cutter.

Chamberlain blocked the cutter and came off the ropes with a big boot to the face of Q.T. Marshall, then slowed things down with a rear chin lock and a series of cross face strikes on the mat. Chamberlain hit a knee drop, then stood on Marshall’s neck until the referee intervened. Marshall rose to his feet with a few strikes, but Chamberlain cut the rally short with a back elbow off the ropes.

After a near fall, Marshall rolled outside the ring. Chamberlain followed, threw Marshall into the steps, then threw him back into the ring for a back breaker. Chamberlain whipped Marshall into the corner so hard that Q.T. flipped upside down, then climbed to the second rope. Marshall put a boot up in Chamberlain’s face to block the move and both men remained down on the mat until the referee’s count of eight.

Marshall made it to his feet first and tried to start another rally with a clothesline and a springboard ensiguri. When that was successful, Marshall called for the cutter. Chamberlain saw it coming, blocked the move, and shoved Marshall forward in the direction of Jackal Stevens. Marshall managed to hit the brakes before colliding with the referee, but turned around and walked right into an Alex Chamberlain spinebuster.

When that garnered just a two count, Chamberlain locked Marshall in a Sharpshooter in the center of the ring. Marshall clawed at the mat trying to will himself to reach the ropes and eventually made it. However, Chamberlain refused to release the hold, prompting Stevens to forcefully pull Chamberlain off of Marshall. Infuriated, Chamberlain turned to argue with the referee. Marshall tried to sneak up behind Chamberlain with a cutter, but Chamberlain moved and Marshall hit Stevens with it instead.

With the referee down, Chamberlain used a low blow kick to set up a discus clothesline. Jackal Stevens started to stir and managed to crawl over to make the count when Chamberlain covered Marshall. With Stevens still not all the way recovered, Chamberlain tried to hit Marshall with the CCW Championship belt. Marshall ducked and hit a DDT, then signaled that he was about to put Alex Chamberlain away.

At that moment, however, Jackal Stevens stood up and confronted Marshall about hitting him with the cutter. During the argument, Marshall shoved Stevens. Jackal responded with a superkick that was meant for Marshall, but ended up hitting Chamberlain instead. Marshall quickly hit the cutter and demanded that Stevens count the pinfall, which Stevens did reluctantly. After the match, Stevens tried to apologize, but Chamberlain made it clear that he would get his revenge on Jackal Stevens someday.

WINNER: Q.T. MARSHALL
