TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 177

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 177 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s match was pre-taped at CCW Bash at the Brew 36 from Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on January 6, 2024. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
A.J. FRANCI$ vs. CHA CHA CHARLIE

A.J. Franci$ wasted no time and attacked Cha Cha Charlie during his entrance. A.J. hit Charlie with a knee strike, ripped Charlie’s shirt off, and held it high for the fans to see. Probably a bad move, though, because it gave Cha Cha Charlie a chance to regroup. Charlie attacked A.J. from behind and sent him outside the ring. Charlie looked like he planned to follow with a tope suicida, but he put the brakes on at the last second and danced for the crowd instead.

Franci$ snapped Charlies neck across the top rope as he re-entered the ring, but Charlie quickly countered with a European Upper Cut. Charlie stood over A.J. on the second rope and punched as the fans counted along until A.J. shoved Charlie back to the mat and leveled him with a shoulder block.

A.J. took control after the shoulder block by choking Charlie on the middle rope. Franci$ followed with a running knee strike with such momentum that it propelled Franci$ over the top rope. Since he was already out there, A.J. pulled Charlie back outside with him and dropped him on the steel guardrail.

The action returned to the ring after A.J. reversed a charging Charlie with a powerbomb on the apron. However, the competitors found themselves back outside the ring moments later. Franci$ stepped on Charlie’s head then tied Charlie in the ropes and charged. Charlie pulled the top rope down sending Franci$ to the outside, then leapt to the top rope and hit a flying splash onto Franci$.

Back inside the ring, Franci$ grabbed a steel chair to attack Charlie, but referee Bruce Owens took it away. Using the distraction to his advantage, Charlie attacked Franci$ from behind, quickly hitting two flying forearms, a dropkick off the ropes, a Blockbuster, and an elbow drop for a near fall.

For some reason, Charlie decided he wanted to use that steel chair on Franci$ at that point, but of course, the referee took it away from him too. Like Charlie moments earlier, Franci$ used the distraction to drop with his opponent with a big boot to the face. Franci$ shoved Charlie into one corner and held a boot choke until the referee intervened. Unphased, Franci$ started choking Charlie with his knee. Again, the referee intervened.

After the knee choke was released, the referee went to the corner to check on Charlie. Seconds later, Franci$ crashed into the corner with a splash that hit both men, knocking the referee out completely. With no referee, Franci$ unloaded with a series of steel chair strikes, then set up two chairs in the center of the ring and laid a wooden door across them.

A.J. lifted Charlie onto the top turnbuckle and climbed up with him, looking to superplex Charlie through the door. Charlie fought back, knocked Franci$ down, and power bombed A.J. through the wooden door. Charlie climbed back up to the top rope, grabbed his hat to signal the finisher, then connected with the Mangu Splash.

Cha Cha made the cover but there was no referee to make the count. Referee Amy Veronica eventually ran in to count the pinfall, but Franci$ kicked out at two. Referee Amy went outside, roused Referee Bruce, and got Bruce back into the ring. At the same time, Charlie climbed back to the top rope. However, Franci$ blocked Charlie’s attack, then hit a chokeslam through a steel chair to get the win.

WINNER: A.J. FRANCI$
