Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 178 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at Music City Fight Night 2 from Texas Troubadour Theatre in Nashville, Tennessee on November 10, 2023. Here is what happened:
MATCH #1
KENZIE PAIGE (c) vs. ARIE ALEXANDER
NWA WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
This NWA Women’s World Title match spilled out of the ring quickly after two arm drags from Arie Alexander sent Kenzie Paige to the outside and Alexander followed with a basement dropkick through the ropes. Alexander hit several hard chops and slammed Paige on the apron. However, when Alexander tried to return to the ring, Paige’s sister Kylie grabbed Alexander’s leg as a distraction.
The champion capitalized with an ambush as Alexander dealt with Kylie Paige and maintained control of the match with nefarious tactics like rope chokes and hair pulls, as well as interference from Kylie Paige when the referee was distracted. At one point, Alexander looked poised to mount a rally, but the champion yanked Alexander by the hair and tossed her outside to a waiting Kylie Paige.
When Alexander returned to the ring this time, she ducked one clothesline from Kenzie Paige, but was dropped when the two competitors hit simultaneous clotheslines. Paige and Alexander stayed down as the referee counted, then rose to their knees and exchanged strikes. They continued alternating strikes on their feet until Alexander hit back-to-back clotheslines, a splash in the corner, and a gut-wrench suplex for a near fall.
Alexander hit a fireman’s carry cutter for another near fall, then grabbed Paige’s leg to prevent her from reaching her sister, who was trying to pull Kenzie out of the ring. During the tug-of-war, Paige escaped and stunned Alexander with a super kick that nearly ended the match.
Off of the near fall, Alexander went for a small package, then hit a German suplex that inspired Kylie Paige to jump up onto the apron. Alexander quickly dispatched Kylie with a hard strike to the face. Unfortunately for Alexander, she turned around right into a Kenzie Cutter.
WINNER: KENZIE PAIGE
MATCH #2
COLBY CARTER (c) vs. CHASE STEVENS
CCW INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
After several lockups and resets, Chase Stevens hit a clothesline off of an Irish Whip, and followed with a headbutt. Colby Carter returned fire with a series of chops in the corner that sent Chase Stevens to the outside. Carter followed to continue the fight, but Chase Stevens ultimately hit a suplex on the floor and tossed Colby back into the ring.
The challenger began to slow things down as he gained control of the match. Stevens hit a headbutt to the crotch of Colby Carter, then used an elbow to the back of the head to set up a modified cravat. Stevens eventually released the hold and hit a boot to the mid-section and a DDT for a near fall.
The champion got his second wind and started to fight back with a sling blade, a modified fireman’s cutter, and a Shining Wizard. When that sequence ended with just a two count, Carter hit a springboard senton for another near fall. Stevens responded with a brain buster for a near fall of his own, but, suddenly, Carter hit a chin breaker and a Codebreaker in rapid succession to get the win.
WINNER: COLBY CARTER
