Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 179 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at Bash at the Brew 37 from Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on February 3, 2024. Here is what happened:
MATCH #1
METO (c) vs. CHRIS FARROW
CCW SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP
During the opening moments of this championship match, Chris Farrow attempted a cross-body off the ropes, but was caught mid-air by Meto. Farrow escaped and hit two arm drags after a missed elbow drop by Meto. Farrow went for a monkey flip, but was blocked. Farrow went for another and was reversed into a tree slam. Meto sent Farrow out to ringside after a nasty chop and a boot rake across the eyes, then followed the challenger and threw him back into the ring.
From there, Meto slowed things down with a delayed vertical suplex, then hit a knee to the mid-section and a German release suplex, looking to the crowd for their disdain between each move. Farrow tried to fight back from his knees, but Meto unloaded a barrage of knees, then hit a back elbow off of an Irish Whip and flipped off a fan before making a lazy cover.
When that, unsurprisingly, garnered just a two count, Meto went for another vertical suplex. This time, Farrow escaped and hit a springboard moonsault, and followed with a series of chops and forearms. Farrow hit a clothesline off of an Irish Whip, then a leg lariat for a near fall, and climbed to the top rope.
Farrow managed to hit the 450º Splash, but could not get the pinfall. Meto slumped into one corner and Farrow charged, but the savvy champion got a boot up in the face of Farrow at the last second. As Farrow recoiled, Meto suddenly leveled him with a spear and the match was over.
WINNER: METO
MATCH #2
RUTHIE JAY (c) vs. ROMA
CCW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
Former CCW Women’s Champion, Roma, and the current champion, Ruthie Jay, exchanged holds in an impressive display of chain wrestling, with neither side gaining a clear advantage, as this match began. The champion would eventually gain the upper hand with a hurricanrana off the ropes, Meteora knees in the corner, and a Northern Lights suplex for a near fall.
Roma slumped in one corner and Ruthie Jay charged for another Meteora, but Roma moved at the last second and quickly hit a clothesline, a backstabber, and a Fisherman’s Suplex for a near fall. From there, the two competitors exchanged quick roll-ups, inside cradles, and pinfall attempts, all of which were unsuccessful.
After a Roma German Suplex resulted in a near fall, Ruthie Jay and Roma rose to their feet exchanging chops. Roma whipped Jay into the ropes and attempted a hip toss, but the champion landed on her feet. Ruthie turned around for a clothesline just as Roma had the same idea and the simultaneous lariats left both women down on the mat.
Ruthie Jay kipped up first, then hit a dropkick and a side Russian leg sweep for a near fall. The champion whipped Roma into the corner and charged, but found herself lifted up and over onto the apron. Roma followed and the two women exchanged forearm shots on the apron. Roma tried to suplex Ruthie Jay onto the floor, but Jay knocked Roma off and went for a tope suicida.
Roma saw it coming and blocked Jay with a forearm as the champion came through the ropes, then ran into the ring and hit a tope suicida of her own. Roma threw Ruthie Jay back into the ring and followed, but Jay was waiting with a kick to the mid-section and a fireman’s carry driver that nearly ended the match.
The champion climbed to the top rope, but Roma met her up top and hit a double underhook superplex. Unfortunately, Roma took too long to make the cover, and Jay barely escaped the pinfall by getting a foot on the ropes. Roma began arguing with the referee as Jay rolled to the apron and waited for Roma to re-engage. When she did, Ruthie Jay hit a shoulder and a kick to the head from the apron, rolled in with a facebuster and converted into a chin lock bridge submission to put Roma away for good.
WINNER: RUTHIE JAY
