TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 183

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 183 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at Bash at the Brew 38 from Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on March 2, 2024. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
LINDSAY SNOW vs. SHELLY BENSON

According to the commentary team, this match was signed before anyone knew that Shelly Benson and Lindsay Snow were sisters. Once you knew and the match began, that fact was impossible to ignore. Lindsay struck first with some chops in the corner, but Shelly reversed the positioning, hit a couple of hard elbows, waved her invisible lasso in the air, nailed Snow with a hip attack and shoved her butt in Lindsay’s face to add insult to injury.

Off of the reset, Snow quickly used a takedown to control Benson, but Shelly wriggled out and kissed her sister on the forehead. Snow rose to her feet, Benson charged, and Snow caught her in a dip as if they were ballroom dancing. Snow got a near fall after a clothesline, leading to another reset.

From there, Benson and Snow grappled on the mat until Shelly rolled Lindsay over for a one count, then hit a running knee strike. Snow immediately returned fire with a knee strike of her own before both women came off the ropes attempting the same move. What looked like simultaneous hair-pull-assisted face busters left both women down on the mat.

Snow and Benson rose to their knees, exchanging strikes, then to their feet. Snow missed a roundhouse kick and Benson countered with a kick to the mid-section and a basement clothesline for a near fall. Snow responded with a body slam for a near fall, then wrapped Benson in a leg scissor submission that forced Shelly to tap. After the match, Snow pretended to show good sportsmanship, but draped Benson over her knee and gave her an old fashioned spanking instead.

WINNER: LINDSAY SNOW

MATCH #2
ALAN ‘S2S’ MARTINEZ (w/BILL ALFONSO) vs. STALLION ROGERS
NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH

This return match between two heated rivals started quickly. Stallion Rogers shoved Alan Martinez in the face and Martinez responded with a superkick and drop kick that sent Rogers to the outside for a breather. Rather than wait for Stallion to return, Martinez hit a tope suicida and threw Rogers back into the ring himself.

Martinez hit a springboard cross-body to re-enter the ring before Bill Alfonso tossed a chair into the ring for Martinez to use. Martinez wedged the chair between two turnbuckles and tried to whip Rogers into it. Rogers reversed and sent Martinez crashing into the chair, then hit a DDT to take control of the match.

After the quick start, Rogers tried to slow things down, going from corner to corner hitting overhand chops to Martinez’ chest. Rogers slammed Martinez onto the steel chair in the center of the ring then sat on Martinez’ chest, unloading with shots until Alan’s forehead busted open.

Alfonso, on the outside, kept trying to distract Rogers, hopping up on the apron and grabbing Rogers’ foot at different moments. Rogers managed to keep his cool, hitting a hard boot to Alan’s face, then placing the chair on Martinez’ chest for a double stomp. Rogers continued with a Garvin Stomp, then put the chair on Martinez’ face and dropped a knee on it.

Martinez slumped into one corner. Rogers met him there and raked his boot across Alan’s face until the referee forced a break. Angered at the referee’s interference, Rogers hit the referee. This fired up Martinez, who leapt up and unloaded with a series of strikes to Stallion Rogers. However, Rogers soon righted the ship and used a headbutt to set up another double stomp for a near fall.

Alfonso tried to get involved again and, this time, Rogers left the ring and chased Fonzie around ringside. Rogers taunted the fans as he pursued Fonzie, and continued to do so as he re-entered the ring. Rogers hit a German suplex, but Martinez hopped right up as if it had no effect.

As the momentum started to shift, Martinez hit a clothesline, then another. Martinez missed a third and got shoved into the ropes but rebounded immediately with a lariat. Martinez grabbed a chair, set in the center of the ring, and hit a double underhook power bomb onto the chair for a near fall.

Martinez climbed to the top, but Rogers threw the steel chair at his head and knocked Martinez down to the apron. Rogers rolled outside and Martinez conferred with Alfonso, and positioned a table across from the ring to the guardrail. Rogers climbed to the top rope and pulled Martinez up with him for a superplex.

Martinez escaped just in time and used an ensiguri to knock Rogers back down to the mat. Martinez went for the GTS, but Rogers escaped and hit a low blow. Rogers grabbed the chair and hit several shots to Martinez’ back with it. When that garnered just a two count, Rogers called for the end and set the steel chair up in the center of the ring.

Before Rogers suplexed Martinez onto the chair, he had an idea. Rogers turned the chair upside down, with the legs pointed up and suplexed Martinez that way instead. Rather than make the cover for the sure win, Rogers turned his attention to Fonzie on the outside. By the time Rogers did turn around and make the cover, Martinez had recovered just enough to kick out at two.

Rogers again reached for the steel chair, but this time, Fonzie snuck into the ring and yanked it out of Rogers’ hands. Rogers attacked Alfonso in the corner until Fonzie rolled out of the ring. Rogers turned around and Martinez dropkicked the steel chair into his face. From the floor, Alfonso grabbed Rogers by the leg and dragged him onto the table that spanned the ringside area.

Unfortunately, the table buckled on its own before Martinez could attack. Moving to Plan B, Martinez pulled Rogers into the ring and hit a GTS. From there, Martinez climbed to the top for a Super Meteora to get the victory. After the match, it appeared the two rivals had buried the hatchet. Rogers and Martinez shook hands and embraced until Rogers attacked Martinez with a headbutt. Rogers continued the attack until Vinicious ran in to save his South American Alliance stable mate.

WINNER: ALAN ‘S2S’ MARTINEZ
