Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 191 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at CCW Anniversary 20 from the MidFlorida Event Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida on April 19, 2024. Here is what happened:
MATCH #1
GANGREL (c) vs. EDDIE TAURUS
NWA FLORIDA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Once this match really got going, it was Gangrel who took control first with chops to Eddie Taurus in each of the four corners of the ring. Gangrel body slammed Taurus and hit a body slam, then went right to the Impailer DDT. However, Taurus escaped as Eric Christopher diverted Gangrel’s attention from the apron.
Of course, Taurus attacked from behind, which sent Gangrel to the apron. Taurus followed and hit a leg drop on the apron, then grabbed a rear chin lock on the mat. Gangrel eventually used his fangs to bite his way out of the hold, but Taurus reversed a whip with a leg lariat for a near fall to regain the momentum.
Taurus hit a belly-to-back suplex and climbed to the top rope, but missed the flying headbutt. Gangrel jumped up and went right for the Impailer again. This time, Taurus had the presence of mind to drive Gangrel backwards into the corner, but Gangrel held on and converted it into a bulldog from the corner.
Taurus was up first after a near fall and whipped Gangrel into the ropes. The Vampire Warrior rebounded with a big boot and followed with two clotheslines and a side Russian leg sweep for another near fall. At that point, Eric Christopher jumped back up on the apron. Gangrel went over to check it out and Taurus again tried to attack from behind. This time, however, Gangrel moved, sending Taurus crashing into Eric Christopher. When Eddie turned around he got hit with the Impailer DDT.
WINNER: GANGREL
MATCH #2
AMBER NOVA vs. RUTHIE JAY (c)
CCW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
These two competitors seemed evenly matched as the contest began with some impressive chain wrestling that led to a number of resets. Nova grabbed an arm bar on the mat, then reversed an Irish Whip with a springboard cross body. Ruthie fell into one corner and Amber Nova used a monkey flip to bring her back to the center of the ring.
Instead, Ruthie Jay rolled outside the ring. When Jay seemed disinterested in getting back in, Nova approached the apron. When she got close enough, the champion snapped Amber’s neck on the rope, slid into the ring, and got a near fall with a facebuster. Jay hit three consecutive standing leg drops, but still could not get the three count.
The champion continued her dominance in the corner with a series of elbows, then lifted Nova up for a suplex and rolled into another pinfall attempt. Jay hit a side Russian leg sweep for another near fall, then modified a rear chin lock by crossing Nova’s arms. After some knee strikes to the back from the champion, Amber Nova used a snap mare to escape the hold and unloaded with a bunch of right hands.
Moments later, both women hit roundhouse kicks on the other at the same time, leaving them both down on the mat. Nova was up first with a flurry that included two clotheslines, a hurricanrana off the ropes, and a Northern Lights suplex with a bridge for a near fall.
The challenger climbed to the top rope, but Ruthie Jay knocked her off the top and down to the floor. Ruthie tried to follow with a basement dropkick, but missed. Nova grabbed Jay’s legs and pulled her out to ringside where a brawl ensued. Nova would slam Jay’s head on the apron and jump into the ring for a tope suicida, then rolled Ruthie Jay back into the ring.
Seemingly in control, Nova climbed back up to the top and hit a flying cross body that should have ended the match. When it didn’t, Jay hit a Michinoku Driver for a near fall and whipped Amber Nova into the ropes. Nova reversed into an O’Connor roll for a near fall, but then Ruthie Jay rolled through, pulled Nova’s tights and got the victory.
WINNER: RUTHIE JAY
