Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 196 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode’s matches were pre-taped at Bash at the Brew 40 from the Unbranded Brewing Company in Hialeah, Florida on May 4, 2024. Here is what happened:
MATCH #1
RUTHIE JAY (c) vs. ROMA
CCW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH
The CCW Women’s Champion, Ruthie Jay hit the ring and went right at Roma. The brawl quickly spilled outside the ring and all over the venue with Roma bleeding profusely after a cookie sheet shot to the face from Ruthie Jay. Jay threw Roma into the steps, then over the guardrail. Roma returned fire by slamming Jay’s face into the oak kegs stacked around the brewery.
Still outside, Ruthie Jay threw a beer in Roma’s face, then slammed her head on a wooden pallet. Jay grabbed a steel chair and threw it at Roma’s face, then picked it up and slammed Roma’s back with it. Roma tried to flee back to the dressing room, but Jay followed.
We lost sight of the action backstage for several moments. Eventually, Roma returned and slid in the ring. Ruthie Jay followed right behind after grabbing a couple more steel chairs. Jay hit springboard Meteora knees from the apron, then went back outside for more chairs and the cookie sheet. Three cookie sheet shots from Jay to Roma nearly ended the match.
Ruthie set up one of the chairs in the center of the ring, sat down, and began mocking Roma before locking in an inverted rear chin lock with bridge. Somehow, Roma managed to get her hands on the sheet pan, and struck the champion repeatedly until the hold was broken. Now with some momentum, Roma hit a German suplex, backstabber, and a double underhook suplex onto a steel chair for a near fall.
Roma lifted Jay onto the top turnbuckle and climbed up for a superplex. When that garnered just a two count, Roma commanded herself to “GET THE TABLES” and set one up in the corner. Jay saw it coming and unloaded with a series of shots. However, Roma caught her in a fireman’s carry coming off the ropes and converted it into a Death Valley Driver that sent them both crashing through the table.
Just as everyone prepared for the crowning of a new champion, CCW trainee, Nikki Blackheart ran in and broke up Roma’s pinfall attempt. Blackheart lifted Roma onto her feet, then sent her back to the mat with a short-arm clothesline. Nikki helped Jay to her feet, then assisted Jay with a spinebuster onto a steel chair. Somehow, Roma had enough left in the tank to kick out at two, leaving everyone stunned.
Frustrated, the champion argued with the referee. Roma snuck up from behind and hit a DDT onto a steel chair. This time, the crowd was shocked when the champion kicked out at two. From the outside, Nikki Blackheart handed Ruthie Jay a pool cue just as Roma lifted her into another fireman’s carry. Jay choked Roma until she released, then quickly locked Roma back in the inverted rear chin lock with bridge, using the pool cue to choke Roma until she had no choice but to tap out.
WINNER: RUTHIE JAY
MATCH #2
Q.T. MARSHALL (c) vs. ELIJAH DRAGO
CCW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIOINSHIP
Earlier in the evening, Elijah Drago stole the newly designed CCW Heavyweight Championship belt during its unveiling. For the main event, Drago entered wearing the championship as if it were his own. Naturally, the real champion, Q.T. Marshall was eager to get the hardware back in his possession. So eager, in fact, that Marshall hit the ring and went right for the challenger.
Drago managed to weather the early storm and hit a pop up power slam for a near fall within seconds after the opening bell. Marshall rolled outside the ring and Drago followed right behind. After an exchange on the floor, Drago back dropped the champion on the apron and rolled him back into the ring.
Drago re-entered with a springboard shoulder tackle from the apron. After a near fall, Drago slowed things down and pummeled Marshall in the center of the ring. Seemingly overpowered by the massive challenger, Marshall tried to find some way to turn the tide in his favor, but continued to come up short.
Drago whipped Q.T. into the corner so hard that Marshall flipped upside down. When Marshall landed on his feet and turned around, Drago lifted him into a torture rack that converted into a back breaker. Drago grabbed a waistlock on the mat, which he converted to a bear hug when Marshall made it to his feet.
Marshall looked to be fading until he blocked the referee’s vision and hit a low blow kick to Drago that released the bear hug. Amazingly, Drago seemed unphased by the low blow and approached Marshall in the corner. Q.T. kicked Drago’s knee and unloaded with a series of shots, but Drago still would not go down.
Marshall hit the springboard ensiguri, but Drago remained upright. Marshall hit a regular ensiguri. Drago was still standing. Matshall hit a super kick, then another, but Drago was still on his feet. Finally, Marshall forced Drago off of his feet with a body slam, then climbed to the top rope for a flying elbow drop. Marshall signaled for the cutter, but Drago blocked and hit a spinebuster.
Drago went for a spin kick, but Marshall ducked and rolled Drago up. Q.T. Tried for the cutter again, but Drago shoved him to the mat to block. Both men rolled to the apron where Drago went for a suplex twice. Each time, Marshall blocked the suplex. So, Drago clotheslined the champion back into the ring, instead. Drago went for another springboard shoulder tackle from the apron. This time, however, the champion caught him in mid-air with the cutter.
WINNER: Q.T. MARSHALL
