TV Review – CCW Alive Episode 148

Coastal Championship Wrestling “Alive” Episode 148 debuted Tuesday on YouTube. This episode matches were pre-taped at CCW The Kumite 3 from the CCW Arena in Pompano Beach, Florida on June 17, 2023. Here is what happened:

MATCH #1
CHA CHA CHARLIE vs. METO (c)
CCW SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP STEEL CAGE MATCH

We have been seeing Meto every week, it seems, getting involved in other people’s matches. This week, it would have been great if Cha Cha Charlie could have taken Meto down a peg and win back the CCW Southeastern Championship at the same time, but it was not to be.

Meto took control early and continually thwarted all attempts at a rally by Cha Cha Charlie through the first commercial. When we returned, we found Meto climbing to the top turnbuckle. At the top, Meto took Charlie’s hat, spit in it, and threw it out of the cage and into the crowd.

While up there, Meto also became the first to grab a kendo stick from a pole. However, Cha Cha Charlie recovered before Meto could use the stick and attacked him from behind, causing Meto to drop the kendo stick. Cha Cha unloaded with ten kendo stick shots for a near fall, then hit a Mangu Splash for another. At this point, the commentators began to question if Cha Cha Charlie lost some of his mojo when he lost his favorite hat.

Meto managed to stop Cha Cha from climbing the cage, and unloaded with ten kendo stick shots of his own, then broke Charlie’s kendo stick. Meto set up for a spear, but Charlie managed to pick up the other kendo stick and nailed Meto as he charged. At that point, Charlie asked for the cage door to be opened and to be handed his guitar from ringside. Meto snuck up and hit a low blow before Charlie could use the guitar as a weapon, picked it up and hit Charlie with it instead, then finished Cha Cha off with a spear.

WINNER: METO

MATCH #2
ALEX OCEAN vs. AGONY
HOUSE OF HORRORS MATCH

When we picked up the House of Horrors match in progress, Agony was standing over Alex Ocean on the second rope. Quickly, though, Ocean throw Agony down to the mat, grabbed a piece of loose barbed wire and wrapped it around Agony’s head and into his mouth. Ocean dumped hundreds of thumbtacks on the mat, but Agony was the first to utilize them, reversing an Alex Ocean slam into an Agony urunage onto the tacks.

Agony looked for a second thumbtack urunage, but Ocean escaped when he turned Agony’s mask sideways, temporarily blinding him. As Agony fumbled in darkness, he accidentally picked up referee Bruce Owens and body slammed him onto the thumbtacks. Ocean capitalized on the confusion by putting a trash can over Agony’s head and hammering the can with a steel chair.

Referee Amy Veronica ran in to replace Owens, just as Ocean tried to body slam Agony onto a trash can. Agony reversed, hit a tombstone piledriver onto the trash can for a near fall, and went for another one. The second time, Ocean wrapped the barbed wire around Agony’s head to escape from the hold, then used a trash can head shot to set up a curb stomp.

WINNER: ALEX OCEAN
